Bolingbrook Black History Awareness Club February 6th

On Saturday, February 6th the Bolingbrook Black History Month Awareness Club hosted their 23rd Annual Black History Month Celebration. The virtual event was themed Fighting for Social Justice and featured a distinguished panel discussion, recording artist Marqueal Jordan, spoken word, magician Spellbinder, a step show, and other performances. Community Matters February 16th at 10:30AM

Presented by Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta, Community Matters is a series in which experts are invited to talk and answer questions on various topics. You can join the conversation too! Submit questions for the experts to answer by commenting on the Village of Bolingbrook’s livestream video on Facebook.

Bolingbrook Arts Council All through February

Art In the Windows! In honor of Black History Month, the Bolingbrook Arts Council is celebrating some of our local Black artists and is displaying their artistic contributions honoring Black art and culture. For the whole month of February, their art will be on display in the #135 store windows by the circle drive at The Promenade Bolingbrook.

This month’s artists are Kwame Boama, Sally Gadzekpo, RubyMae Chapman from the Senior Club at the Levy Center, and two Arts Council members, Regina McClay and Qyjon Clark.

In the Belly of the Beast: King in Chicago Wednesday, February 24 7:00pm - 8:00pm

Clarence Goodman will talk about the struggle that Dr. King and other organizations in the area faced as they fought for equality for all. Zoom info will be sent an hour before the program begins.
